As a cannabis industry veteran, I feel proud to support The Last Prisoner Project and its efforts to bring awareness to the disparities between the legal cannabis market and the "black market". Countless numbers of incarcerated people are suffering in prisons all over the country in disproportionate numbers due to the COVID-19 pandemic. "The Last Prisoner Project focuses on three key criminal justice reform initiatives: prisoner release, record clearing through clemency and expungement, and reentry programs. A core social justice focus is to release incarcerated cannabis prisoners. Data shows, however, that most released prisoners fail without the proper resources in place. Reentry programs reduce recidivism. A criminal record can be a significant barrier to employment, housing, financial assistance, and more, so we work to clear cannabis prisoners record, given that those acts are now legal. Collectively these programs help cannabis prisoners become "fully free."

This next video, if you have the time, goes into great detail about the challenges being faced right now to our prison population as a whole. Regardless of political affiliations, the fact these men and women have to break the law to get this information out is ridiculous. You will see in the video, a man who took a smuggled cell phone and documented the horrific conditions he other prisoners are subjected to in his jail facility. Something must be done to protect the prison population as well as criminal justice reform to free all incarcerated cannabis prisoners. We are on the precipice of great change in this country, on multiple levels. We at Konopé Compliance want to do our part to help bring change not only to the cannabis world but humanity as a whole, which is why we have donated to the Last Prisoner Project and will be a part of volunteer efforts surrounding the reform of cannabis laws in Colorado and the country through the Last Prisoner Project and the Marijuana Policy Project.
We must accept that things are not perfect and we must band together to do something about it. We can no longer be silent simply because things aren't bad for us, so they must not be that bad for others. We must come together for change.
